Orlando Bloom has been candid about the “paranoia” he suffered after losing 52 pounds in a role in the upcoming boxing film The Cut.
The actor, who portrays a retired boxer returning to the ring, recalls only eating tuna and cucumbers, leading the way in filming a film directed by Shaun Ellis that appeared in Wednesday’s episode of “This Morning.”
“I was just exhausted,” he added, explaining that he had no energy or brain power.
“I was just a hangover, mentally and physically. I was a scary person around me.”
Bloom, 48, admitted that he suffered from “paranoia” and “intrusive thoughts” after a nutritionist who worked with “Dark Knight” star Christian Bale.
“All of a sudden, all of these foods were taken away from me, and my protein powder was the last one,” he added.
“I was like, ‘No! Don’t take that.’ Then basically, I’ve just come down to tuna and cucumbers for the past three weeks. ”
Bloom explained that his nutritionist will check his blood regularly.
“We’re supposed to eat, sleep and take care of ourselves,” he continued. “It’s a really commentary on the length a person goes to have that second shot. I think it’s very familiar.”
The “Lord of the Rings” star claimed that athletes would lose “normal” weight, but the actor claims that they “reach extremes.”
Later in the interview, Bloom shared, “I’m lying on the set, lying between take,” explaining, “I then get up and do push-ups…it looks a little bulky.”
The “kingdom of heaven” star emphasized that “everyone in the house” would not “recommend” his “strength” diet.
In the film, which will be released on September 5th, the actor “plays the role of a retired fighter who is obsessed with returning to the ring.
In September, Bloom spoke to people at the Toronto International Film Festival and shared that he needed to film the film at his lightest weight before putting on weight.
At the time, he claimed that his ex-fiance, Katy Perry, was “shocked” by his transformation.
The exe confirmed their split in July nine years later.
