Shania Twain returned to her roots during an intimate one-night-only SiriusXM concert at Racquet New York on Thursday night, performing some of her biggest hits to a packed house of fans and subscribers, including “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!,” “Come On Over,” and “You’re Still The One.”
She also sang several songs from her latest seventh studio album, Little Miss Twain (out today), including “Dirty Rosie” and “Stranger Things.”
The 60-year-old country-pop queen looked as glamorous as ever in a sheer caped blouse with a plunging neckline, layered over a black bustier and matching hot pants.
Knee-high suede boots and a plethora of diamond jewelry completed Twain’s onstage ensemble, including an eye-catching necklace, chandelier earrings on her shoulders, and several sparkling bracelets and rings.
During her set, the five-time Grammy Award winner shared the personal stories behind her new songs, which were inspired by her time growing up as an aspiring musician in Ontario, Canada.
“Faded Blue Jean,” featuring Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, is about young love and the beloved denim she wore in her 1995 music video for “Any Man of Mine.” (And yes, she still has those jeans.)
Meanwhile, “Little Miss Twain” is a love letter to the young singer’s mother’s support and sacrifices as she strives to become “the next Tanya Tucker.” (Tucker himself also duets on the track, a true full-circle moment.) Twain’s parents died in a car accident when she was 22, but the artist’s sister was in attendance at Thursday’s show and received a special cheer from the stage.
To celebrate Twain’s album release, SiriusXM has launched Little Miss Twain Radio, a new pop-up channel celebrating her discography and musical influences.
