Ryan Murphy’s new drama series The Shahs, based on the thriller novel by Bret Easton Ellis, is set in a world of drugs, sex and murder.
FX has released a trailer for the show, which will premiere in two episodes on August 5th on the cable channel and Hulu.
“The Shahs” follows a group of wealthy Los Angeles teenagers who indulge in the excesses of ’80s private school culture in the face of a serial killer. The arrival of new student Robert Mallory (Homer Geer) coincides with a series of gruesome murders across the San Fernando Valley, and narrator Brett (Igby Rigney) attempts to get to the bottom of the mystery before it’s too late for him and his friends. friend. In the trailer, Brett tries to convince his friends that Robert is “mentally insane” as horrifying violence stalks the close-knit group.
The series also stars Kaia Gerber as Susan Reynolds, Hayes Warner as Debbie Shafer, and Graham Campbell as Tom Wright. Also starring Wes Bentley as Terry Schaefer, Evan Rachel Wood as Liz Schaefer, and Jordan Ross as Steven Reinhart.
The show is co-created by Murphy (“Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer,” “Love Story”) and Ellis (“Less Than Zero,” “American Psycho”), who wrote the script based on Ellis’ best-selling 2023 novel. They will executive produce alongside Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Ellis, Erik Kovtun, Scott Robertson, Nissa Diederich, Tanase Popa, Nick Hall, Michael Uppendahl, Max Winkler, Kathleen McCaffrey and Brian Young. The series is produced by 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television.
