Amy Adams has recalled the terrifying incident in which she helped a man get stabbed in Los Angeles.
“We were in Santa Monica and we came out of our favorite restaurant,” she began on Monday’s episode of her podcast “Smartless,” recalling that she and her father, Richard Adams, were “the first ones on the scene” during a family outing. Her husband is Darren Le Gallo. and daughter Aviana.
“People were screaming and there was a guy walking by screaming, ‘He’s going to die!’ and my husband was saying, ‘That’s blood!'” Adams continued.
She recalled telling her husband, “You stay here with your daughter,” during which she and her father “ran over” and saw a man “stabbed in the neck.”
“So he was bleeding and his friends were panicking,” she told shocked hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes.
The “American Hustle” actress, 51, said “luckily” they were going to the beach and had towels.
She said her father was “putting pressure on” with a towel because he was “in a lot of scenes.”
“And I’m sitting there and somehow I keep saying, ‘I need to calm my pulse. Take some deep breaths,'” she shared, adding that she was “focused” in the moment.
“I was like, ‘The more you struggle, the faster you’re going to bleed. Just lay there. Let’s level it up,'” the “Enchanted” star said.
In a bizarre turn of events, the “Junebug” actress said a year later that she encountered a stabbing victim while eating out.
“A guy came up to me in a restaurant and he was like, ‘I heard you and your dad were at the scene where a guy got stabbed,'” she recalled.
She said he said, “That was very interesting to hear.”
“And I thought, ‘Oh my god, it’s you.’ And it was him.”
Ms Adams called the unexpected reunion “crazy” and said the man was “absolutely in tears” and “had his son with him” at the time.
Asked if he had told her about the circumstances of the stabbing, Adams said that “as far as (she) could understand,” he had been drinking with a college friend before going to the liquor store.
“They were trying to get to someone’s house and he was just freaking out,” she continued, but admitted that she “didn’t really get the whole story.”
Adams isn’t the only celebrity caught up in a scary situation. Hayes himself said he once helped a man who had been shot by using his shirt as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding before escorting him to the hospital.
“He was alive and okay,” Hayes said, adding that he was “topless” the entire time.
Following the death of “The Wire” actor James Ransone in December, a woman came forward to say that he once saved her from a sexual assault by threatening him.
And in 2019, Danny Trejo rescued a toddler trapped in an overturned car in Los Angeles.
