Muni Long shockingly revealed that he underwent a double lung transplant after doctors gave him one week to live.

The Grammy Award winner, 37, opened up about how her health issues started occurring while she was on Brandy and Monica’s 2025 The Boy Is Mine Tour.

“I shouldn’t have been on that tour,” she said on “Good Morning America” on Tuesday. “But there were many things in my life that required me to do that.”

Long, who had previously been diagnosed with lupus, recalled how he fell ill with pneumonia while on tour and had to leave early after “barely getting through” two songs at the final show.

The “Made for Me” songstress explained how she was home for the Thanksgiving holiday and “woke up in the hospital” with doctors telling her she needed surgery.

“I knew for a long time that something was wrong,” she says. “Every day I spit into a glass and cough, and I continue to take medication to get through the day.”

“In this industry, it’s always in people’s faces,” Long continued. “So I’m taking pictures and I’m just breathing in and out, as if I’ve run a marathon.”

The hitmaker initially felt better in hospital, but was later told by medical professionals that she had one week to live.

“My jaw dropped,” she said. “Literally. I thought, ‘That’s rude.'” But they were like, “Hey, this isn’t a joke.” You have to make a choice. Either go to hospice or get a lung. ”

Long hesitated at first, thinking about her voice.

“But I look out for my son,” she said of her 3-year-old son, Tatum, with ex-husband Rayshawn Hairston.

“Then I think about how much more of my life I have to live. Quality of life came first. I can’t sing if I’m not here,” the “Make Me Forget” singer continued.

Six months after his surgery, Long said he is feeling well and has had no symptoms or infections.

Ms Long admitted she “didn’t speak up for myself” about her serious health issues and had a message for those who might find themselves in a similar situation.

“Lupus disproportionately affects Black women who are expected to just show up and be everything to everyone,” she noted. “Don’t put yourself off by thinking about others.”

“I need to focus on myself,” she continued. “You have to pour into yourself. Don’t be afraid to say no.”
