Jalen Brunson playfully joked about landing a role alongside Mariska Hargitay in the crime series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit after winning the 2026 NBA Finals.
On Saturday night, the New York Knicks star was asked what he would do next after his team defeated the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5.
“Take a ride, go to ‘SVU,'” he quipped, according to an Instagram video shared by the NBA.
Following the historic win, Hargitay, 62, took to Instagram to celebrate the Knicks’ win by posting a throwback photo of Brunson as a kid wearing an NBA team T-shirt and holding a basketball.
Above the photo of the now 29-year-old point guard, the words “You Found a Way” were written in orange and blue letters.
“And you are a guide for many,” the actress captioned the photo. “Congratulations to everyone and a big thank you. #NBAFINALS Captain @jalenbrunson1 @nyknicks Champion #Believe.”
Hargitay has played NYPD detective Olivia Benson on the long-running NBC series since 1999.
The crime drama currently has 27 seasons and also stars Christopher Meloni as Elliot Stabler and Dan Florek as Donald Cragen.
Brunson has been outspoken about his admiration for Hargitay, admitting that he looks for her at every Knicks game at Madison Square Garden.
“I love her to death (and) she knows it,” he confessed on a previous episode of “The Richard Jefferson Show.”
The athlete called himself the “Lake Placid” star’s “No. 1.”
As a loyal Knicks fan, Hargitay has attended several games this season, including the Eastern Conference Finals game against the Cleveland Cavaliers in May.
She also attended several New York-based games during the NBA Finals, including Game 3, which she attended with her “SVU” co-star Meloni.
Cameras also captured the moment Hargitay jumped up and down with friend Taylor Swift to celebrate the Knicks’ victory in Game 4.
Hargitay seemed relieved that the Knicks won, joking that the team’s come-from-behind victory may have made her 2004 wedding to Peter Herman “the best night of my life.”
