Taylor Swift attended Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden. Swift attended her first Knicks game in 2014, wearing a clever “Stevie Nicks” top. The appearance comes less than 24 hours after she attended the Toy Story 5 premiere in Los Angeles.
After attending the Toy Story 5 premiere in Los Angeles last night, Taylor Swift literally traveled across the country today to watch Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs. The singer arrived as the game began, wearing a clever Stevie Nicks top in honor of one of her favorite people, Stevie Nicks.
Her fiancé, Travis Kelce, was not with her. Kansas City Chiefs players (and Cleveland Cavaliers fans) are participating in the team’s mandatory minicamp from June 9-11.
Swift’s appearance at Madison Square Garden came amid rumors that she might host a wedding at the arena. Of course, Swift has not commented on the report and her plans remain private.
But she has history with the Knicks. She first competed in October 2014, her first year living in New York City. She sat next to Ben Stiller, an avid fan who has been a fixture at games this season.
After attending a game in November 2014 (and sketching with Jimmy Fallon while wearing Knicks gear in February 2015), Swift reappeared at a Knicks game last month, albeit on the road. She sat next to Kelce when the New York team played and won against the Cleveland Cavaliers. She stayed neutral, wearing a black look instead of team colors.
Kelce later talked about taking Swift to that game on New Heights, saying, “Obviously, being a lifelong Cleveland sports fan, bringing Tay back to Cleveland and showing her her roots is always something I love.”
He added that they only came to Cleveland to watch the game. “I think it was tough to see them lose, but at the same time it was so much fun to be so close to hometown and be in the building and feel the Cleveland electricity,” he said. “But the Knicks are on a roll right now, so hats off to New York. I’ll probably continue to root for the Knicks.”
Travis later told his brother that he wasn’t trying to turn Swift into a Cavaliers fan. “This was just a fun date night, knowing that I love going to basketball games. In fact, when I was stuck in Kansas City, we tried to go to a game in New York. I love and appreciate bringing her into the sports world. So (they) saw us at the U.S. Open tennis game, and they brought her to other baseball games as well.”
