Kyle Cook has revealed his plans to amicably separate from Amanda Batula, avoiding a lengthy financial dispute.
The “Summer House” star told People that she wanted a “walk-away” divorce “instead of a prenup” as she began legal proceedings.
This decision means that the couple leaves the marriage with the assets and property they already own, rather than asking for financial concessions from each other.
Cook also revealed in the interview that Batula was the one who took the first step in the legal process.
He recalled receiving an email from her lawyer in mid-March — just as rumors of a romance with her “Summer House” co-star West Wilson were beginning to swirl.
Mr Cook thought the move was strange at the time, as he knew Mr Batula to be “not a very active person”.
“It was kind of weird,” he recalled. “I thought, ‘Wait, is there some ulterior motive behind why she’s suddenly rushing to divorce?'”
The Loverboy founder, 43, said he now understands he took such action because his estranged wife and Wilson were already in a “serious relationship” by then.
Notably, Cook and Batula did not sign a prenuptial agreement before their September 2021 wedding. Bathing suit designer Batula admitted last year that she regrets that decision.
“I failed. I failed at the majors,” Batula, 34, confessed on a July 2025 episode of Jason Tartick’s podcast “Trading Secrets.” “It had to do with a divorce, and it always felt very awkward. We didn’t sign the divorce because it didn’t seem like the wise thing to do.”
And she advised those listening: “Everyone should sign a prenuptial agreement. I’ll say it now: Protect your assets and let them protect their assets. You never know what’s going to happen.”
Last month, Page Six exclusively reported that the estranged couple had not yet filed for divorce as they were still sorting out their finances.
Additionally, Cook reportedly wants Batula to start the process, just as Ben Affleck “made” Jennifer Lopez file for divorce “so as not to look like a villain,” as reported by the Daily Mail.
The former couple announced their separation on January 19th after four years of marriage.
Two months later, Batula admitted to a secret relationship with Wilson, 31, after weeks of speculation.
The pair kept it a secret from everyone at Summer House, including Batula’s former best friend Ciara Miller, who dated Cook and Wilson.
Despite the harsh backlash, the couple appears to be on track, flaunting their relationship during a trip to Italy at the “Summer House” season 10 reunion that aired in the US last week.
Cook has been in the news for flirting with fans during his DJ tours, and is also reported to be “in a relationship” with Southern Charm star Sally Carson.
