Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard will be among the guests at Slano Film Days, which will be held from June 16th to 20th in the small Croatian coastal town of Slano. Other guests at the event include Oscar-winning director Paweł Pawlikowski of “Aida” and two-time Palme d’Or winner Ruben Østlund.
Gyllenhaal and Sarsgaard will introduce the audience to “The Bride!,” directed by Gyllenhaal and starring Sarsgaard.
“The Bride!” is an American Gothic romance inspired by the 1935 classic “The Bride of Frankenstein,” written, directed and produced by Gyllenhaal, starring Jesse Buckley, who won an Oscar for Best Actress at this year’s Academy Awards, alongside Christian Bale, Penelope Cruz, Annette Bening and Jake Gyllenhaal. The film follows Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut, The Lost Daughter, which was nominated for three Oscars. This year, Gyllenhaal will head the jury at the Venice Film Festival.
For Thrano, Gyllenhaal will participate in an onstage conversation with cinematographer Michael Seresin (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes). Sarsgaard will be speaking with Michel Franco, director of Memory, which co-starred with Jessica Chastain and won the Volpi Trophy for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival.
At Slano, director Pawlikowski will screen “Fatherland,” which won the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival, and Østlund will talk about his new film “The Entertainment System Is Down,” which is currently being released.
Slano Film Days was founded and directed by Miro Privatra, former president of the Sarajevo Film Festival.
