Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein went from being hot and heavy to just friends.
A source exclusively told Page Six that Lopez and Goldstein, who co-star in the upcoming Netflix movie Office Romance, “remained professional on set during filming, and their chemistry was undeniable.”
“During the months of filming, they tried to keep things low-key, but they were flirting all over the set. They definitely had a strong connection,” the source said. “Everyone saw them getting along so well at the wrap party, it was obvious they were into each other.”
Sources say Lopez, 56, and Goldstein, 45, enjoyed a night out together in early 2025 when they attended the Broadway play “Oh Mary!” in New York City.
“Once filming wrapped, they were free to move forward and dated for quite some time,” the source said.
But the relationship eventually ran out of steam, sources said.
“They loved spending time together and Brett made her happy,” the source explained. “But things have been going awry between them since last year.”
The source emphasized that there is no animosity between the two and that they continue to have a good relationship.
“It’s not like they’re on bad terms, but they’ve just hit a bit of a lull. Their friendship is good, but in terms of romantic chemistry, the ship has kind of sailed,” the source said.
The “Hustlers” star and the “Ted Lasso” alum “were dating for a little bit and were very physically attracted to each other. Nothing major happened. We just felt like we were better off as friends.”
Representatives for Mr. Lopez and Mr. Goldstein did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
News of the Netflix romantic comedy broke in September 2024, with Goldstein set to star opposite Lopez.
Social media users were quick to point out Goldstein’s longstanding crush on Lopez, which he frequently expressed on his podcast “Films to Buried With.”
One fan posted a clip via X slamming Goldstein for appearing on Hustlers in a July 2018 episode.
“Damn, hell. 50!” the comedian exclaimed about Lopez’s age at the time. “She’s 50 years old. I love her.”
He also expressed jealousy towards one of his female co-stars in a scene where Lopez hugged her while wearing a fur coat.
“I’ve never wanted to be hugged more,” Goldstein said. “That is one of the best hugs.…Give me your special hug.”
As previously reported, the singer shut down rumors of a romance with Goldstein in an awkward moment on live television on the Today Show on Tuesday.
Host Savannah Guthrie asked her “Office Romance” co-stars if the speculation about their off-screen chemistry was true.
“There’s never been a time where I’ve been seen with someone or working with someone and they don’t want me to be with them,” the “Let’s Get Loud” hitmaker responded.
But Ms. Guthrie was not satisfied with their responses to her questions, and specifically told Ms. Lopez that she had circled the questions.
“Okay, but let me tell you, that wasn’t the answer because I am me and you know me,” she said.
“We’re not dating,” Lopez said, to which Goldstein added, “That’s right.”
