Owain Rhys-Davies, best known for his roles in Twin Peaks: The Return and The OA, has died. He was 44 years old.
The Welsh actor’s brother revealed the “devastating” news in a lengthy post on Instagram on Sunday, writing: “It is with deep sadness that my father and I share the news that our brother Owain has passed away.”
Rhodri Davis explained that the news was shocking because “there remain unanswered questions regarding the circumstances of his death.” However, the family understands that “Owain passed away suddenly, naturally and peacefully”.
The actor’s brothers went on to praise Owain’s “love, friendship and generosity”, adding: “The outpouring of messages we have received over the past few days has been deeply moving and is testament to the impact he had on so many lives.”
“Owain was fortunate to have multiple families. In addition to his biological family, he has developed extraordinary familial bonds with many of his closest friends, colleagues, and loved ones.
“I am so proud that he was my brother, but also a brother to so many. We know this loss is felt by so many, and we take comfort in knowing how much he was loved.”
Rodri promised to share more information about her brother’s death and funeral arrangements at the appropriate time, before asking for privacy to “come to terms with this devastating loss.”
Born on February 20, 1982 in Cardiff, Wales, Owain was best known for his role as Agent Wilson in the 1990s revival of the series Twin Peaks: The Return and The OA starring Jason Isaacs and Brit Marling.
