Prime Minister Kirk Cameron leaves California due to ‘terrible’ politics

“Growing Pains” star Kirk Cameron recently explained on the “Adam Carolla Podcast” that he left California for Tennessee to escape the Golden State’s “terrible politics” and “all the other things that make it difficult to raise a family.”

“It’s great having a childhood in California because my parents pay for everything,” Cameron said. “So we can go to the beach, we can hang out, we can go snow skiing, we can eat In-N-Out burgers, we can eat hot dogs in downtown Hollywood. It’s great. We’re having a good time.”

“But then, like my kids, they finally get independent and realize how expensive it is. They realize how bad the politics are and everything else that makes it difficult to raise a family there. So all of a sudden you’re like, ‘Oh my god, I have to move. I have to go somewhere where I can actually thrive and even survive.'”

Cameron said he “hopes to come back” to California one day, adding, “pound-for-pound, I think California really has a lot to offer.”

Cameron said of the good things about living in Nashville: “There are a lot of creative people here who have good values. They love their families. They’re proud of their country. And the whiskey is great. So if you like whiskey and hot chicken, Nashville is the place to be.”

Cameron played the role of Mike Seaver, the eldest son of the Seaver family, in all seven seasons of Growing Pain, which aired for 167 episodes on ABC.
