Halle Berry said she still remembers “every minute detail” of her ex-husband Eric Benet’s cheating scandal that rocked the world more than 20 years ago.
While praising Gayle King for sharing her infidelity story on Thursday’s “Today with Jenna and Sheinelle,” the 59-year-old Oscar winner reflected on how “therapeutic” it was to talk about the experience.
“I’m proud of her for saying that and sharing this, because it’s happened to so many of us,” Berry said.
“You remember the whole situation down to the last detail, and it stays with you forever. So if you can share that in some way, it’s therapeutic.”
“When you can actually share that and other people can tell their experiences, it’s cathartic. So I’m grateful to her.”
Sheinelle Jones then asked Berry if she ever felt like she had to “hide” from the shame of the scandal that happened before she could deal with it.
“I couldn’t hide it. It was in the news. I didn’t necessarily talk about it publicly, but I did. I talked about it without shame. I told my friends. I told other women,” Berry said.
“I didn’t rant about it publicly because there were kids involved, but I did talk about it, and it was very, very helpful,” she explained.
In 2002, he entered a 35-day rehab program for sex addicts, later telling People that it was because he “wanted to save my marriage and do whatever it took to do it.”
But Berry, who has since broken up with musician Van Hunt, appeared on a 2024 episode of Dax Shepard’s podcast “Armchair Expert” and called out BS about claims that the “Spend My Life With You” musician was a sex addict.
As for King, during an appearance on the podcast “Call Her Daddy,” she talked about the time she caught her ex-husband William Bumpass cheating on her with his best friend.
“I went home and got him,” she told host Alex Cooper about her ex-husband, to whom she was married from 1982 to 1993.
彼女は匿名の女性にこう言ったことを思い出した。 “‘I can’t believe you’re here and doing this. I can’t believe you’re doing this.'” And I even said, “I thought we were friends!” It sounded so pathetic. ”
