Singapore-based film investment group Triple Green Cine Capital (TGC) has formally entered into a partnership with Chanh Phương Films for the Vietnamese video game horror film adaptation “The Scourge” (Tai Ương), which Skyline Media released to buyers at the Cannes Film Market this month, marking TGC’s investment debut in Vietnam.
TGC made its industry debut at Indonesia’s JAFF Market 2025, announcing its focus on commercial films across Southeast Asia’s emerging markets. Chánh Phương Films’ work includes local hits “Bẫy Rồng,” “Em Chưa 18” and “Để Mai Tính.” This horror drama will be the first joint production between the two companies.
“Vietnam and Southeast Asia’s film market has incredible room for growth due to unique local stories that are yet to be fully explored, and expanding the content ecosystem is one of the most important strategies. TGC has chosen ‘The Scourge’ as its first investment in Vietnam to strengthen the power of original content IP and local filmmakers in Southeast Asia. Chanh Phương This partnership with Films demonstrates TGC’s confidence in the commercial value of Vietnam’s entertainment industry and our clear business plan to bring Vietnamese films to audiences around the world,” said Leonard Lai, CEO of TGC.
“Having a globally-minded regional investment partner like TGC gives us a strong starting point, proving that Vietnamese stories and talent are strong enough to compete internationally and set new standards for horror film adaptations in Vietnam,” added Charlie Nguyen, producer of Tran Phuong Films.
With a 94% positive rating on Steam and over 100,000 downloads, the source game is set in a haunted apartment building in Ho Chi Minh City, inspired by real-life abandoned buildings in the city. This film adaptation expands beyond the game’s premise by weaving together local urban legends, ghost stories, and old Vietnamese customs. Đoàn Sĩ Nguyên (“Điều Ước Cuối Cùng”) will direct from a screenplay by Trần Khánh Hoàng, whose credits include “Em Chưa 18.” Produced by Nguyễn and Jimmy Nghiêm Phạm. Skyline Media will be in charge of international sales.
