“The Boys” may have ended this week with its fifth and final season, but there’s still more to explore in the Vought Cinematic Universe.
Prime Video’s prequel series “Vought Rising” released its first trailer Friday morning, traveling back to 1950s New York City and showing the sinister origins of Vought and Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy. The trailer shows Soldier Boy donning his retro outfit for the first time as scientists at Sage Grove Center, the sinister mental hospital featured in “The Boys,” conduct experiments to give people powers. It also shows Soldier Boy teaming up with Aya Cash’s Stormfront for the first time. As “The Boys” fans know, Stormfront was one of the main villains of season 2, and was revealed to be a Nazi before being killed by The Boys.
The cast includes Mason Dye, Will Hochman, KiKi Layne, Jorden Miley, Nicolo Pacetti, Elizabeth Posey, Ricky Staffieri, and Brian J. Smith. Dai returns as Super Bombsite, who appeared in season 5 and briefly fought Soldier Boy before relinquishing his V1 serum-induced super strength and immortality. Posey plays a nurse-like super named Private Angel, and Hochman plays Torpedo.
In addition to starring, Ackles and Cash are also producing Vought Rising, which will be released in 2027. Paul Grelong will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Oli Marmur, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Michaela Starr and Jim Barnes also serve as executive producers. The film is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Gray Pictures and Original Film.
