Charlie Heaton swaps the 1980s for the 1950s in this first image on the set of the untitled sequel to Peaky Blinders.
Heaton, known for his role as Jonathan Byers in Netflix’s monster hit Stranger Things, will play Charles Shelby in the series, which also stars Jamie Bell as his half-brother Duke Shelby.
The six-episode series will focus on the next generation of Shelbys, following the resignation of family patriarch Tommy, played by Cillian Murphy, in the recently released film spin-off The Immortals. In the movie, Duke was played by Barry Keoghan.

“Charles Shelby has fought a fierce war, much of it behind enemy lines, and now embraces a normal life,” the synopsis reads. “He hasn’t seen his half-brother Duke in years. Charles has severed all ties with the Peaky Blinders gang and the hedonistic Shelby lifestyle. But can he escape his own blood?”
The new series, currently in production in Birmingham, is set 10 years after World War II, when the city begins to rebuild after being destroyed by air raids.
Joining Bell and Heaton on the series are Jessica Brown Findlay (“Silo”), Lashana Lynch (“The Day of the Jackal”) and Lucy Karszewski (“Stereophonic”).
A release date has not yet been set, but it will premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK, and will be available on Netflix elsewhere.
Peaky Blinders is written and produced by Steven Knight and produced by Banijay UK company Kudos and Garrison Drama.
