Travis Kelsey detailed how he spent time in London with Taylor Swift last week in New Heights. He opened up about his dinner at Gymkhana and his impressions of the West End plays he saw. The couple were photographed in London on Thursday and Friday and attended a wedding in Greece over the weekend.
Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift were photographed in London on Thursday enjoying dinner at Gymkhana and a performance of West End play Romeo and Juliet starring Sadie Sink, who also appeared in Swift’s 2021 short film All Too Well. Although Swift hasn’t commented on their trip, Travis gave a breakdown of their night on this week’s episode of New Heights.
His brother and co-host Jason Kelce asked the Kansas City Chiefs tight end about his trip to London with Swift. “I found out on the internet that you were in London. It was fun,” Jason joked.
“London is fun, Jason,” Travis replied. When asked if he had done anything quintessentially British, he mentioned the couple’s night out in the West End.
“Mostly we ate really good food and enjoyed some plays,” he said. “I saw ‘Sadie Sink.’ I think his name was Noah Jupe. He was phenomenal as Romeo. Sadie was phenomenal as Juliet.”
He was then joined by cinematographer Lina Yang to talk in detail about his dinner with Swift at Indian restaurant Gymkhana. (Yang has collaborated with Swift on music videos such as “Lavender Haze.”)
He called it the “second best” Indian food he’s ever had, “because Kumar (Ferguson, Kelsey’s personal chef) makes the best Indian food. I would say it was one of the most amazing meals I’ve ever had. It’s called Gymkhana. I went to a spot where I could eat and it was fucking amazing. I didn’t ask any questions about any of the dishes that they served. I just jumped in. The only questions I had to answer were how hot was it, how spicy was it?”
“It was a unique twist (of Indian cuisine),” he added. “I don’t think they really understood what we were ordering. They just kind of followed what was served on the table.”
As for the spice level, “It was the consensus of the table. We went in a milder direction, but it was still like Ed Kelce (his father) sitting on a bucket of chicken wings watching Jeopardy. (It was still hot), yeah, it was leaking. (The place) is phenomenal. Now that we know there’s one in Las Vegas, everyone in America should go try it.”
Jason playfully brings up the fact that Travis is a picky eater, having previously teased his brother about it in New Heights. He asked if the label was still accurate.
“No, it’s not. That’s not accurate at all,” Travis replied. “But it’s fun to play around with, because I was like that at one point, yeah. And, kudos to you, you expanded my curiosity about eating when I was probably around 22, maybe 21.”
Jason agreed that he helped, but gave a rare compliment to Swift’s significant contribution to Travis’ culinary palate. “Taylor brings you out of your comfort zone more than I ever could,” he said.
