“Summer House” star West Wilson’s cousin has been arrested and charged with the murder of his grandmother, Gail R. Wilson.
Dakota Sweeney, 28, was arrested by the Carrollton, Missouri Police Department on April 22 and charged the next day with first-degree murder and armed criminal action, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said in a statement.
Gail, 75, was West and Sweeney’s grandmother, according to her obituary.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 10:25 p.m. last Wednesday, Carroll County law enforcement officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residence and found a woman’s body inside.
Witnesses at the scene identified the male suspect and he was taken into custody without incident, the statement said.
Sweeney is currently being held in the Caldwell County Jail on an unsecured warrant.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Drug Enforcement Unit is investigating the murder.
Gail’s murder occurred the night before West, 31, was in New York City to film the Summer House season 10 reunion.
TMZ first reported the news of the arrest.
Gail’s obituary confirmed that she passed away at her home on April 22nd.
Her surviving family includes her husband Roger, four children, and seven grandchildren, including West and Sweeney.
Her obituary said Gail “lived a life filled with creativity, kindness, and precious moments.”
West has been in the news for his romantic relationship with co-star Amanda Batula, which was the biggest topic of conversation at last week’s reunion.
The sports journalist previously dated Batula’s best friend, Ciara Miller, and was also close to Batula’s estranged husband, Kyle Cook.
In leaked audio from the Season 10 reunion, Miller called Batula a “fucking king snake” as Batula defended her relationship with West.
Mr Cook, meanwhile, was heard calling Mr West a “shithole”.
West was mostly silent in the leaked audio while Batula, 34, argued with his co-stars.
After filming the reunion, Page Six obtained photos of West and Batula leaving the venue together and heading to a friend’s house.
West has not spoken publicly since the reunion.
According to a Tuesday post on Cook’s thread, West forgave Batula for his “brutal assault” and did not “take her back” during their reunion.
Batula and Wilson confirmed their relationship on March 31st in a joint statement on Instagram.
Up until that point, the duo had kept their relationship secret from other “Summer House” castmates, including Cooke and Miller.
Wilson claimed on the April 20 episode of his podcast that there was “no overlap” in his relationship with Batula. He also claimed that they were both “single” when they started dating.
