The official cause of death for “Melrose Place” star Patrick Muldoon has been confirmed.
According to documents obtained by Us Weekly Wednesday, the actor died of a myocardial infarction, also known as a heart attack.
His causes of death included an inherited clotting disorder that causes blood clotting disorders and a pulmonary embolism, defined as “sudden occlusion of a pulmonary artery.”
Muldoon died on April 19th at the age of 57.
The Days of Our Lives alum’s sister, Shanna Muldoon-Zappa, told TMZ that her brother spent the morning with his partner Miriam Rothbart at his home in Beverly Hills and left to take a shower.
But when Rothbart went to check on the “Starship Troopers” star, she found him unconscious on the bathroom floor.
Paramedics were called immediately, but Muldoon was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene.
Described as “infinitely generous” by those close to him, Muldoon is remembered as “stylish, charismatic and vibrant” and someone who “lived every day in the full spirit of rock and roll.”
He also “loved animals and humans alike, gave unforgettable hugs, and had the rare quality of making others feel safe and noticed.”
Muldoon was born in Los Angeles’ San Pedro neighborhood in 1968 and appeared in two episodes of “Who’s the Boss?” Currently studying at the University of Southern California.
He landed a three-episode regular role on Saved by the Bell shortly after graduating from college in 1991, and then appeared as the iconic Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives from 1992 to 1995 and from 2011 to 2012.
After leaving the long-running soap opera in 1995, Muldoon appeared on Melrose Place as the evil Richard Hurt from 1995 to 1996, during seasons three and five.
Muldoon’s acting credits also include the 1997 hit film Starship Troopers, in which he co-starred with Denise Richards.
The late actor looked happy and healthy during his last public appearance at the 53rd Saturn Awards in March.
His last Instagram post was shared on April 17, two days before his death, in which he expressed his “excitement” for the new movie “Cockroaches.”
Many of Muldoon’s former co-stars took to social media to pay tribute to the “infinitely generous” actor following news of his death.
“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum Lisa Rinna, who co-starred with Muldoon on “Days of Our Lives” and shared a brief relationship with him in the ’90s, posted a throwback snap of the pair with a heartbroken emoji.
Mario Lopez, who co-starred with Muldoon during a brief appearance in Saved by the Bell, wrote in X magazine, “Rest in peace my friend,” along with a black-and-white photo of the late actor.
