Diana Russini has deleted her X account (formerly known as Twitter) after drama over a photo with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel escalated.
The former Athletic reporter’s content no longer appears on the platform as of Thursday evening, Page Six confirmed.
The sports journalist previously posted a resignation letter on the platform after Page Six published photos of him and Vrabel at a luxury resort in Arizona in March.
Photos published by Page Six on Thursday also showed Russini and Vrabel chatting and apparently kissing at a bar in New York City in March 2020.
“They were kissing and crazy about each other,” an eyewitness told Page Six. “He was wearing a ring.”
The sports journalist initially claimed that the recent resort photo was taken out of context and that she and Vrabel (who was photographed holding hands) were on a luxury vacation in Sedona with several other friends.
However, multiple sources told Page Six that this was not the case.
“Like most NFL journalists, reporters interact with sources away from stadiums and other venues,” she told us.
Meanwhile, Vrabel told Page Six earlier this month that the Arizona photo “represents a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable and does not deserve any further reaction.”
Vrabel, who recently revealed he has been undergoing counseling, spoke to reporters at a press conference held during the NFL Draft on Thursday, following the release of his 2020 snapshot.
“It’s a private and personal matter. I don’t think that comment … I think it’s that I was always going to try to protect your family,” he said in part at a press conference.
“I’m not going to deny it by any means, but I think my family and this football team are the most important things, and that’s what I’m trying to do. I’m excited about the challenge of both.”
Vrabel has been married to his wife, Jen Vrabel, since 1999, and the longtime couple have two sons.
Meanwhile, the former ESPN reporter married Shake Shack executive Kevin Goldschmidt in 2020, six months after posing for a photo with Vrabel in March 2020, and has since fathered two sons with her spouse.
