Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi revealed that she used TikTok to help her “calm down” after her cervical cancer diagnosis, after “panicking and crying” and then “going to Short Hills Mall” in New Jersey.
The 38-year-old “Jersey Shore” star told Page Six Radio hosts Evan Real and Danny Murphy that he “spent thousands” at a shopping center during a retail therapy session.
“I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m going to die. Let me go to Short Hills Mall. I just swiped my card and spent a lot of money. And it made me feel better,'” she explained.
After continuing her indulgence, she took to social media in search of answers.
“When I got the diagnosis, I thought, ‘Am I going to die? What’s going on?'” I feel like I didn’t have anyone to talk to because there was no one around me who was dealing with this. So I literally went to TikTok right away,” she shared.
The reality star recalled searching for “stage 1 cervical cancer” on social media platforms and finding testimonies of other women battling the disease.
“There were a lot of videos that came out just showing people what they were going through and what they had to go through and what it was like to have a hysterectomy and what it was like to have the surgery and how you felt afterwards. So, in a way, that made me feel at home,” she recalled.
“I think this is common, so I thought I needed a platform to educate people about this. Get your Pap smears, girls.”
Polizzi announced in February that she had been diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer and shared a positive outlook on her disease despite the negative news.
“Everything will be fine. I’m going to work on this and get through it. I have some work to do,” she said in the video.
In April, Polizzi revealed that she was scheduled to undergo a hysterectomy to treat adenocarcinoma.
“I’m not a pain person, so the thought of having organs removed scares me,” she told People on Thursday about her upcoming hysterectomy.
“It’s part of being a woman, and even though I’m done having children, it’s very upsetting to think that I won’t be able to have them,” Polizzi said. Polizzi has three children, Lorenzo Dominic (13), Giovanna Marie (11), and Angelo James (6), with her husband Gioni Laval.
