Warning: Contains spoilers for The Devil Wears Prada 2.
The production team behind The Devil Wears Prada 2 reportedly made the “creative decision” to cut Sidney Sweeney’s cameo from the final version of the film.
A source familiar with the “Euphoria” star’s scrapped look revealed the decision and what was going on in her scenes in a chat with Entertainment Weekly, published Tuesday.
They revealed that Sweeney was slated to appear early on in director David Frankel’s sequel, in which Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs, Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly and Stanley Tucci’s Nigel Kipling search for Emily Blunt’s Emily Charlton at Dior’s US headquarters in New York City.
Upon arriving at the office, the three reportedly found Blunt dressed as Sweeney, one of Charlton’s celebrity clients, who played herself in a short scene.
However, sources told EW that Sweeney’s nearly three-minute scene felt out of place in the sequence they had intended.
He also said that the filmmaking team highly valued Sweeney’s participation and that it was difficult to make the “creative decision” not to include her in the film.
Meanwhile, The Devil Wears Prada 2 screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna further confirmed in an interview with Screen Rant published Sunday that Sweeney will not appear in the final version of the film.
Representatives for Mr. Sweeney and Mr. Frankel did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Rumors that the 28-year-old “Christie” star would appear in “The Devil Wears Prada 2” began last summer when fans thought they had seen Sweeney sneaking onto the New York set with Blunt.
A video from August 2025, which has since been deleted, shows a blonde woman wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt exiting a trailer with her face covered by an umbrella.
The photos were taken during the “Anyone But You” star’s controversial American Eagle ad campaign, which sparked a backlash over the tagline “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.”
However, Sweeney downplayed the cameo rumors in November 2025 when asked about a photo that was allegedly sneaked onto set.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she told Screen Rant at the time.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be officially released on May 1st and will feature Hathaway, Streep, Tucci and Blunt reprising their roles from the 2006 original.
This time around, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, Rachel Bloom, B.J. Novak, Kenneth Branagh and Simone Ashley joined the cast, while other A-listers including Lady Gaga, Ciara and Ashley Graham were also spotted on set before filming wrapped.
