The jury may still be out on whether the Emmy Awards will embrace “corporate exit,” but Amazon is going for it anyway.

Prime Video has exclusively revealed to Variety its Emmy strategy for the second season of the reality hoax series, which received entries across 19 categories. The eight-episode season will feature outstanding comedy series entries, with 15 cast members competing in the supporting actor and actress races, and four additional performers entered in guest acting categories. Unfortunately, this year’s mainstay, Anthony Norman, will face the same eligibility restrictions as Ronald Gladden in Season 1. He is ineligible to be considered for lead actress under Television Academy rules because he is unwittingly a central part of the series.

The second season, created by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, sees Norman hired as a temporary employee at his family’s company, Rockin’ Grandma’s Hot Sauce, to help run the company’s annual company outing. As in season 1, all of the participants surrounding Norman are professional actors.

The original “Jury Duty,” which premiered in April 2023, was a huge hit for the streamer and was nominated for three Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Supporting Actor for James Marsden, and Outstanding Screenplay. The second season, now rebranded as “Company Retreat,” ended on March 20th.

The highlight of the award campaign is the penultimate episode 207, “Mergers and Acquisitions,” in which Norman learns the truth about his co-workers. This episode will be the official submission for both directors, who will direct on behalf of Jake Szymanski and write on behalf of Anthony King.

A standout among the ensemble is Alex Bonifer, who plays Dougie Jr., heir to a fake hot sauce empire. Jim Woods is an “ally” and enthusiastically supports Jimmy. And Lanisa Renee Frederick’s deadpan comic timing is one of the season’s most consistent delights.

On the guest acting side, Grammy winner Sia will play an exaggerated version of herself, vying for her first career acting nomination. In addition to Jarrad Paul and Ian Roberts, guest appearances include Lisa Gilroy, known to comedy viewers for her roles in The Dropouts’ Game Changer and Make Some Noise.

This year’s Emmy Awards timeline begins with nomination round voting from June 11th to 22nd, followed by nominations on July 8th.
