Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are back in Australia. The couple, who last visited Australia as senior working royals in 2018, arrived in Australia on Tuesday, April 14, just over a month after a spokesperson confirmed their plans for the visit.
“Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will be visiting Australia in mid-April to take part in a number of personal, business and philanthropic activities. Further details will be shared in due course,” their representatives said in a statement to People magazine on March 8.
For her first official engagement in Australia, Meghan wore a navy dress by Karen Gee. The piece, officially called the Priscilla Dress, featured a crew neckline and a subtle belt that accentuated the waist. Embellishments were minimal, but the dress featured six golden buttons on the chest.
Meghan completed her ensemble with black leather Dior Dioressence pumps and gold Real Fine Studio Puffy Hearts earrings that matched the buttons on her dress. She also wore her wedding ring, a Cartier watch, and a Cartier Love bracelet.
She wore the look while visiting the Royal Children’s Hospital and serving lunch at Macquarie Community Services for Women, a women’s shelter that supports homeless people and victims of domestic violence. Both locations were in Melbourne.
Meghan’s second outfit of the day was a little more daring. For her appearance with Prince Harry at the Australian National Veterans Gallery in Melbourne, she wore St. Agni’s khaki suede Utility Cocoon Bomber, which she paired with the brand’s tonal suede column skirt. Underneath the jacket, Meghan wore a taupe Annie top by P. Johnson.
Meghan completed her look with nude Aquazzura heels and Real Fine Signature Studs by Real Fine Studio.
In a 2024 interview with The New York Times, Meghan revealed that after realizing the impact her clothes have, she tries to support brands and designers who believe in her influence.
“When I have global attention and I know that people are paying attention to every detail of the clothes I’m wearing and not wearing, I support the designers I have really deep friendships with and the small up-and-coming brands that don’t get the attention they deserve,” she said. “That’s one of the most powerful things I can do, and that’s just to wear earrings and things like that.”
“I spend a lot of time searching for brands on Google,” Meghan added. “When people are searching and reading things online, I try to find great new designers, especially in different fields. Investing in them has allowed me to line up with this chapter that is investing in itself.”
