Fiona Dourif, known to fans of “The Pit” for her role as Dr. McKay, has joined the cast of horror movie “A Head Full of Ghosts.”
She joins the previously announced ensemble of David Harbour, Rebecca Hall and Esme Creed-Miles (Hannah), as well as Bodhi Ray Bresnach (Hamnet) and newcomer Holly Hill-Pearson.
Produced by Robert Downey Jr., “A Head Full of Ghosts” follows a suburban family whose lives are torn apart when their teenage daughter’s descent into insanity becomes the subject of a reality TV show. Fifteen years later, her sister Mary, along with a journalist, confronts her family’s dark past and uncovers the true nature of the evil forces that destroyed them. Hill Pearson plays the young Mary, while Creed Miles plays the character as an adult. Bresnach becomes her teenage sister Marjorie. Dourif and Harbor play the parents.
The film is written and directed by Veronica Franz and Severin Fiala, who are known for their roles in films such as “Goodnight Mommy” and “The Devil’s Bath.” This story is based on Paul Tremblay’s book of the same name.
Lionsgate recently acquired “A Head Full of Ghosts” from Fifth Season. Allegiance Theater’s Daniel Dubicki and Lara Alameddine are producing Team Downey, along with Susan Downey and Robert Downey Jr., along with David Gambino and The Fifth Season. Scott O’Brien and Brandon Hill will oversee the project for Lionsgate.
Dourif appeared in films such as Paul Thomas Anderson’s “The Master,” Gus Van Sant’s “When We Rise” and Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” before breaking out on “The Pit,” which was renewed for a third season. She is repped by Stephen La Manna of Innovative Artists.
Breathnach’s upcoming projects include “Sense and Sensibility” and Robert Eggers’ horror thriller “Werwulf.” She is represented in the UK by The Artists Partnership and Jackoway Austen Tyerman Wertheimer Mandelbaum Morris Bernstein Trattner Auerbach Hynick Jaime LeVine Sample & Klein.
