Good Morning America co-anchor Janay Norman has abruptly announced her departure from the ABC talk show after 15 years.

“I wish I had more time,” she said in a video posted to Instagram on Saturday.

“Having my time cut back was hard for me. I loved my job. I had so much fun connecting with my colleagues and viewers, keeping them informed and entertained, and building this community,” Norman added.

The journalist said it was “truly heartbreaking” that she “wasn’t able to say goodbye” to everyone.

“It’s such a shame…it would have been fun,” Norman, 36, added.

Norman, who co-anchored “GMA” on Saturdays and Sundays, said one of the good things about not being on the show was that he was able to spend more time with his children.

“But I have three young children and I’ve worked weekends all my life, so now my kids understand me more, and it’s all worth it,” she explained.

“So stay tuned. I’m sorry. I know how you feel. And thank you to each and every one of you for such kind and convincing words. I needed it and I appreciate it,” she concluded her video message.

Norman captioned the post: “I have read all the messages and am deeply grateful for the love. I will share more when the time is right.”

On April 2nd, reports surfaced that Norman would be leaving GMA because ABC refused to renew his contract.

A source told People that Norman “has been on air for weeks knowing he would not be renewed since early March and has been completely professional and had no issues.”

“But once this story leaked online, she was abruptly taken off the air. Her contract isn’t until early May,” the source added.

Norman began his career at ABC News in 2011 as an intern at NewsOne.
