Hamnet’s Jessie Buckley wore a strapless red and pink Chanel dress to the 2026 Oscars. The Best Actress nominee is tonight’s frontrunner after winning the category at the Critics’ Choice Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and Best Actor. Buckley made his Oscar debut in 2022.
Hamnet’s Jesse Buckley, who just won Best Actor earlier this month, arrived at the Academy Awards in one of the best looks of the entire 2026 awards season. The Best Actress nominee wore a red and pink off-the-shoulder dress by Matthew Blasey for Chanel, which was accessorized with Chanel high and fine jewelry. She wore matching red lipstick and kept her blonde hair tucked neatly behind her ears.
Buckley made her Oscar debut in 2022, wearing a striking pale pink dress by Erdem.
A year later, she attended the ceremony again wearing a sheer Rodarte dress with floral details.
Buckley is the favorite to win tonight, as the Hamnet star won Best Actress at the Critics Choice Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTAs and Best Actor earlier this year.
The star was one of ELLE’s 2025 Women in Hollywood honorees. In an interview, she talked about how she prepared to shoot the film’s emotional finale scene. “I had no idea where I was going,” she said. “And being lost was part of it. I remember thinking, ‘Actually, maybe being lost is a very human thing. And if they can see that, maybe that’s okay.’ Humanity is someone trying to find themselves in a moment where they’re completely broken. As a human being, you’re a mess.”
She also said, “I love love,” regarding the film’s overall message about grief and love. “Love is worth it. What else are you going to do? Lock yourself away? I think you have to live. Even in death, Hamnet lives on. (Father William) Shakespeare (played by Paul Mescal) somehow immortalized something and created a way for this story, this son, this event that happened in his life to become bigger than that moment. Maybe we just have to live like that.”
