A New York Times reporter wooed the pop star on a midnight tour of their famous Times Square headquarters, and later flirted with her in the paper’s conference room!
Songstress Maggie Rogers has revealed a rendezvous allegedly recorded during a performance at Madison Square Garden, without mentioning Don Journo by name.
But Page Six has since learned that the man in question is Times travel writer and photographer Stephen Hiltner.
Rodgers joined singer Rosalía on stage at MSG as part of her LUX tour. Rosalía has a trick: she invites famous fans onto the stage to make confessions as if they were in a Catholic church (Saturday Night Live’s Marcello Hernandez also did a “confession” while on tour).
Rodgers told his thousands of fans: “A while ago, I was single and a friend of mine said, ‘I have someone to take me out on a date.'” He said he found the person “handsome” and agreed to a night out.
As she drove around town in his vintage car, she found herself “fell in love a little bit,” she said.
“All of a sudden he said, ‘Oh my god, it’s actually right next to my office. Can I take you to the New York Times?'”
“We walk in and he shows us around, completely emptying the building. We’re making out in the conference room. It seems like we’re having a really good time. He’s giving me a ride home and we’re making out in the car,” she said.
The next morning, she was calling her girlfriend. And one of her disgusted friends blurted out, “Oh my god, that’s my friend’s boyfriend.”
Without mentioning his name, she concluded: “This is my story. This is my confession. I mean, what a loser. I don’t trust journalists.”
Breaker’s Lachlan Cartwright first revealed Hiltner as Rodgers’ mystery man. He wrote that Hiltner removed a photo of vintage wheels from his Instagram following reports of Rodgers’ show.
A New York Times spokeswoman declined to comment, and a representative for Rogers did not immediately respond.
