Harry Styles is no stranger to appearing on magazine covers.
But the singer’s latest work isn’t your typical Vogue or music magazine photo shoot. Rather, Styles talks about his latest obsession: distance running on the cover of Runner’s World ahead of Friday’s album release.
The former One Direction star, 32, showed off his abs and extensive tattoos in the shirtless photo.
Lensed by Laura Jane Coulson and styled by long-time stylist Harry Lambert, he is seen wearing only leopard-print compression shorts underneath his black running shorts on the cover.
The “Golden” singer shows off her vast array of tattoos in the snap.
In the image, Styles stretches and runs using a combination of vintage items, his Pleazing brand, and running staples like Oakley sunglasses and Nike sneakers.
Styles has been spotted running around town in shorts and bright outfits as he trains for two marathons, but his shoot also includes a bolder look in shorter shorts covered in cheetahs.
In a conversation with novelist Haruki Murakami, Styles opened up about his healthy habits, masculinity and fame.
“What I often struggle with on tour is not knowing what I’m giving, what I’m adding to the world,” he said.
“Especially when things like reward systems and the praise you can receive feel so noisy. Like obviously I’m getting a lot out of this, I’m getting all this energy. People have given me so much and I deeply appreciate it. But what am I contributing? Sometimes I felt very existential about it.”
He teased his upcoming album Kiss All the Time, Disco Occasionally, revealing that it was inspired by time spent listening to techno in Berlin clubs.
“I wanted to recreate the way I was on the dance floor, buried in the instrumentation and the musicality. It was so immersive, and that’s what I wanted to feel like when I was on stage,” Styles said.
“I didn’t want it to feel like I was preaching. I wanted it to feel like, oh, we’re in this music together, we’re in this music with you.”
