Finally, here are some answers!
Brandi Glanville revealed that breast implants were the cause of her facial deformity.
The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star told TMZ on Tuesday that her 20-year-old breast implants ruptured, causing silicone to leak into her lymph nodes and become clogged, ultimately causing a facial infection.
“I definitely had a parasite. It was a shock because I had[the implant]in for almost 20 years,” she told the outlet.
“I looked fine, I felt fine, I was told my mammogram was fine, but I didn’t know until I got an ultrasound. I thought I should get that checked too, but why not? I tested everything else,” she continued, adding that she visited 21 doctors and “spent a lot of money” to find the root cause of her health problems.
“There’s a thing called breast implant disease, and implants should be replaced every 10 years. I just didn’t do it. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I learned a really, really hard lesson,” she said.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, breast implant disease refers to a wide range of symptoms that occur after breast implant surgery. These symptoms may develop immediately or years later.
“It sucks to look 20 years older overnight,” she said, noting that she has had laser treatment for her face and recently had breast implants replaced.
She didn’t want to dissuade women from getting breast implants, but asked them to get regular ultrasounds.
Granville, 53, has been battling facial disfigurement for the past two years, starting with swelling in July 2024.
She initially thought it was stress, but six months later doctors told her she might have a facial parasite.
In addition to sagging and swelling on one side of her face, the model also lost several teeth and is currently undergoing work to replace them.
By December 2025, Glanville had received a diagnosis, but had not made it public until now.
“I have a long way to go before I’m completely better, but I’m just thrilled that we finally have an answer,” she said at the time, noting that she had deliberately remained silent about the root of her illness.
“It’s been hell. I’ve become an introvert. Whenever I leave the house, I get the worst anxiety because I’ve been at home for two years,” she said of her long health journey.
