Andy Cohen says he has “nothing special to say” about Jill Zarin’s removal from E!’s Golden Life for her abusive behavior during the Super Bowl halftime show.
The host added on Thursday’s SiriusXM show, “If you would like any further comment, please call E!”
“So, especially the guy who was fired in Season 4, he’s been telling me a lot, both on camera and off camera, and he’s finally coming back. And then a week after the announcement…” Cohen continued. “But I’ll never forget seeing Zarin Fabrics’ Instagram account,” Cohen continued. “I posted a picture of Jill with an X on her face. I never thought that day would come.”
Zarin appeared on RHONY for four seasons from its premiere in 2008 to 2011, and returned for the 2022 season of Ultimate Girls Trip.
Bravo is owned by NBC, but “The Golden Life” is produced by E! — which is now part of the newly formed Versant Media.
Zarin Fabrics, founded by her late husband Bobby’s father in 1936, severed ties with the former Bravo star after Zarin, 62, uploaded an Instagram video criticizing Bad Bunny’s performance.
The company posted a photo on its Instagram page of Zarin with a giant red X drawn on her face.
The caption reads, “Zarin Fabrics stands firmly against racism, discrimination, and rhetoric that seeks to exclude or degrade people based on their identity, culture, or background.”
“We want to be absolutely clear that Jill Zarin has no ownership interest in or been associated with Zarin Fabrics in recent years,” the statement continued. “We operate independently and any public statements attributed to her were made in her personal capacity and do not reflect our values, beliefs or business operations.”
Zarin has since deleted an Instagram rant in which he called Bad Bunny’s performance “the worst halftime show ever.”
“What we’re celebrating right now is the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, and I don’t think it’s appropriate to do that in Spanish, and frankly I don’t think it’s appropriate to grab his ‘G’ territory,” she continued. “I think it was totally inappropriate.”
“There’s a lot of young kids watching the Super Bowl and he’s so anxious that he doesn’t have to grab himself every five seconds. Seriously.”
Despite many Bravo stars applauding Zarin’s remarks, a source close to the reality star told Page Six that “E! completely overreacted” and “They could have waited a week and been fine. The show won’t be on the air for nine months.”
The “Real Housewives of New York City” alum was originally scheduled to appear on “The Golden Life,” but the series’ producer, Blink 49 Studios, said in a statement Tuesday that she had been dropped.
“In light of recent public comments by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in ‘The Golden Life.’ We remain committed to delivering the series in accordance with our company’s standards and values,” producers said in a statement to Variety at the time.
Page Six originally reported the news that Zarin, along with fellow “RHONY” alums Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimon and Sonya Morgan, would appear on E!’s new show.
It was later revealed that the series would be called “The Golden Life” and would be filmed in Palm Beach, Florida, in the spring.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Reza Farahan claimed that Zarin once bragged to him that the first spinoff of “The Real Housewives of New York City” fell apart because she “pulled her leg” and “asked for money.”
When Bravo rebooted “RHONY” with an all-new cast in 2023, the network announced a second show called “RHONY: Legacy” featuring the OG housewives.
However, due to failed contract negotiations, the series was reportedly changed to one season of “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip.”
But in 2023, the businessman told Page Six he had nothing to do with the change.
“‘Legacy’ didn’t happen because it wasn’t meant to happen. That’s the truth,” she said. “It has nothing to do with me. It has to do with the producers and what they decide. I don’t really understand.”
