Prime Video on Thursday offered a trailer for its extensive international slate, with highlights including a reboot of the hit Japanese manga series “Fist of the North Star,” the first U.S. adaptation of Mercedes Ron’s novel “30 Sunsets para enamorarte,” and “Masterplan” starring Stanley Tucci.
The virtual showcase was broadcast live online from London and featured pre-recorded interviews from talent including Ron, actor Nicole Wallace (“Kalpa Mia”), who recently signed a wide-ranging talent deal with Amazon, “Siren’s Kiss” star Park Min-young, and Tucci. Kelly Day, international vice president of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, introduced the event in a prerecorded segment, and the streamer’s new vice president of international original production, Nicole Clemens, served as emcee.
Clemens was joined by Amazon MGM Studios regional executives Nicole Morganti (Southern Europe), Tara Eller (Northern Europe), Javiera Balmaseda (Latin America, Canada, Australia) and Nikhil Madhok (India), as well as Prime Video APAC Vice President Gaurav Gandhi.

“Yo Soy Betty, La Fea,” which inspired the hit series “Ugly Betty,” is back for a third season 24 years after it ended in Colombia, with star Ana Maria Orozco returning to her Chilean role and an adaptation of Isabel Allende’s novel “The House of the Spirits” by Nicole Wallace (“Calpa Mia”) starring Clara del Valle, and an Italian production also starring Nicole Wallace. Among the projects set to excite audiences is “Master Plan,” a French-Italian co-production from “Reacher” director Thomas Vincent. Simona Tabasco (The White Lotus) and Victor Belmondo (Lie With Me) co-star. “I thought it was one of the best characters I’d ever read, and I was thrilled to be asked to play it. It’s an actor’s dream,” he continued. “The international cast is fantastic, Victor is a great actor, Simona is great, Thomas is a skilled director, and the locations are amazing and have everything you could want.”
This breadth is in no small part due to the streamer’s top 10, which regularly sees countries from all over the world vie for the top five spots. In the top 10 non-English international originals year-to-date, director Mercedes Ron’s Culpa Nuestra ranks first, followed by the German series Maxton Hall, the German film The Tank, fellow German film The Calendar Killer, and the third season of the Indian series The Family Man. Overall, Ron’s Culpables series of films has garnered over 100 million views worldwide.
“Prime Video is the home of international storytelling,” Kelly Day said in a pre-recorded introduction. “What we’re seeing now is that viewers around the world are finding content from many other countries that they really enjoy watching.”
