Bad Bunny wowed NFL fans during the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show with an electric and emotional performance celebrating his native Puerto Rico.
The rapper wowed the crowd with fan favorites like “Tity Me Pregunto,” “Yo Pereo Sola” and “DtMF,” as Cardi B, Jessica Alba, Karol G, Pedro Pascal, Alix Earle and Young Miko danced around him.
The lively performance, held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, paid homage to all aspects of Bad Bunny’s rich culture, including dancing, food (and cafecito!), games, and even the lasting impact of Hurricane Maria.
Lady Gaga, who gave a surprise performance of Bruno Mars’ “Die with a Smile,” also wore the true blue of Puerto Rico’s flag, which represents freedom and independence. She also adorned the territory’s official national flower, the Flor de Maga.
Fellow Puerto Rican Ricky Martin was also a surprise guest, singing “Lo Que Paso a Hawaii.”
Bad Bunny, who always yelled “God Bless America” before wiping out all the countries and territories that make up the Americas, also held up a football that read “Together, We Are America.”
On Thursday, musician Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio teased his performance at the 2026 Super Bowl during a press conference for Apple Music’s halftime show.
In a room full of reporters, including those from Page Six, the 31-year-old was asked about the people who supported him before the world knew his name. He tearfully praised his mother, Risoli Ocasio, for her work.
“My mother believed in me. And I’m not talking about my music career. I’m just talking about before everything,” he explained.
“She believed in me as a person, as a human being. She believed in me, my decisions, my opinions, my preferences, my choices. She believed in me as a human being, as a smart person, as a talented person, and I think that’s what got me here, you know?”
Elsewhere during the conversation, Bad Bunny was asked if he would invite a surprise guest to the stage during Sunday’s big show.
“You know, that’s not something I’m going to tell you. I don’t know why you would ask that,” the six-time Grammy winner replied with a laugh, making it clear that viewers won’t be disappointed.
“I just want to have fun. It’s going to be a big party. … I don’t want to give away spoilers. People just need to think about dancing. They don’t even have to learn Spanish. It’s better to dance, but there’s nothing like dancing that comes from the heart.”
He added: “Of course, pick your team in the game.”
Bad Bunny also opened up about his feelings leading up to the big moment after scoring three big wins at the 2026 Grammy Awards this past weekend.
“A lot has happened. Of course there’s a lot of gratitude. (‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’) That’s how I’ve been feeling this past year with the album. The biggest feeling is gratitude. I’m taking things one day at a time and just living,” he explained.
While preparing for the halftime show, Bad Bunny said he was trying to “relax” and “enjoy the moment” of “what’s going on.”
In September 2025, the recording artist revealed he will headline the coveted Super Bowl halftime show.
After announcing the news on social media, he told Page Six in a statement, “What I feel goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran for countless yards so I could go out and score a touchdown. … This is for my people, my culture, and our history.”
He added in Spanish, “Ve y dile a tu abuela que seremos elhalftime show del Super Bowl.” This means, “Go and tell your grandma we’re going to be the halftime show at the Super Bowl.”
The decision to have a Spanish-speaking rapper headline the halftime show infuriated some NFL fans, who argued that he should sing in English.
Some have noted that he has criticized the brutal tactics of the Trump administration and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Bad Bunny has endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 presidential election after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of trash” during Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally.
Following Independence Day, he released a music video for the track “NUEVAYoL,” which featured a synthetic voice of Trump apologizing for his stance on immigration.
But the most vocal Bad Bunny critics are even more vocal fans. Whoopi Goldberg proudly calls him “the great American performer.”
Bad Bunny also cleverly clapped back at his haters during a monologue on Saturday Night Live in October 2025.
“I’m really excited to be hosting the Super Bowl, and I know that people all over the world who love my music are also excited,” he said, speaking in Spanish.
“All the Latin Americans and Latinos around the world who have worked hard to open doors, especially here in the United States,” he continued in his native language. “This is not just a victory for me, it’s a victory for all of us. No one can take away or erase our footprint and our contributions in this country.”
Bad Bunny ended his speech with some cheeky English. “And if you didn’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn!”
