Kelly Clarkson confirmed she was leaving her eponymous daytime talk show at the end of the show’s seventh season to spend more time with her children.
After Page Six exclusively revealed that the show was ending, the “Since You Been Gone” singer announced the news in a lengthy message shared to social media on Monday.
Clarkson, 43, said on Instagram: “I was so lucky to work with such great people on The Kelly Clarkson Show in Los Angeles and New York.” “There have been so many great moments and shows throughout these seven seasons.”
The Grammy Award winner turned talk show host added that she is “forever grateful and honored to have worked with the best band and crew you could hope for,” as well as “all the talented and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us.”
Clarkson also praised all of the countless fans who have “supported our show” since it first aired in 2019, and thanked NBC for being “always supportive and a great partner.”
“This was not an easy decision to make, but this season will be my last as host of The Kelly Clarkson Show,” she said.
The “Because of You” hitmaker wrote that “stepping back” from “The Kelly Clarkson Show” allows her to prioritize her children, which “feels necessary and right for the next chapter of our lives.”
Clarkson has daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9, whom she had with her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. Mr. Blackstock tragically passed away in August 2025 at the age of 48.
The “American Idol” alumnus will be leaving the daytime talk show after this season ends, but he concluded his message by acknowledging that “this is not a farewell.”
“I’ll continue to make music and play shows here and there, and you might see me on ‘The Voice’ from time to time…you never know where I’ll show up next,” she wrote.
“But right now, we just want to thank you all so much for making our show a part of your lives, and for believing in us and sticking with us for seven incredible years,” Clarkson concluded.
As Page Six exclusively reported last month, multiple sources have told us that the singer will be leaving The Kelly Clarkson Show after this season.
One source said her departure was “definitive”, while another said it was “likely that she will not proceed”.
“[Her show]has a lot to do, and when you look at the daytime TV landscape, it’s not sustainable anymore,” they shared.
However, rumors that Clarkson wanted a break from the grueling schedule that comes with the daytime talk show date back to last year, with industry insiders claiming that Clarkson would leave when his contract expires this year.
“Kelly’s first priority is and always will be her children,” a source told Us in April 2025. “The show is grueling. It’s hard work. I hear Kelly wants to spend more time in the South.”
Amid the initial rumors last year, show staffers were said to have been concerned about the future of the NBC show, with one source claiming Clarkson was “having a bit of a breakdown” when meeting with producers to discuss the show’s future.
“She was emotional. She was worried about the staff,” an anonymous staff member told the Daily Mail in June 2025.
“She made it clear that she did not want her decisions to affect all of our lives,” they added at the time. “But it’s a little late now.”
In the end, Clarkson ended up staying on for one more season, but NBC reportedly began looking at potential candidates to replace him, with rumors that former Today host Hoda Kotb was being considered.
“There’s a long list of names, and Hoda is part of that list,” a source told the Post last year. “NBC never wanted Hoda out,” adding, “The question is, does Hoda want to leave?”
Of course, the “Behind These Hazel Eyes” singer was forced to leave “The Kelly Clarkson Show” over the summer after her ex-husband and father of her two children tragically passed away after a long private battle with melanoma.
Clarkson is said to have left the show after a long and acrimonious legal battle to take care of her family and Blackstock, who divorced in 2022 while battling skin cancer.
Meanwhile, an NBCUniversal press release obtained by Page Six on Monday confirmed that production on Season 7 of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” hosted by Clarkson, will continue as scheduled.
The station announced that “several special guest hosts” have been announced, and that the season will continue airing until fall of this year.
“We would like to thank Kelly and the production team for the outstanding and high quality programming they have consistently produced since 2019 and look forward to the continued success of this season,” said Valari Staab, president of NBCUniversal Local.
