The Studio has canceled a panel discussion at Apple TV’s press day following the death of star Catherine O’Hara on Friday.
“The Studio” was just one of many panelists scheduled for Tuesday’s Apple TV press day at the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles. The streamer announced the cancellation on Friday, shortly after O’Hara’s death. According to the show, O’Hara was not scheduled to attend the panel discussion with her co-stars Seth Rogen, Ike Barinholtz, Kathryn Hahn and Chase Sui Wonders.
“We are all heartbroken by the loss of Catherine O’Hara,” Apple and Lionsgate said in a joint statement Friday. “An undeniable legend, an icon, and a unique talent, Catherine elevated every project she took part in, including the singular genius she brought to her role on The Studio and every transcendent performance she gave us. Her art. Her legacy will forever bring humor, light, and love for generations to come, and her brilliance and generous spirit touched those around her. We will always hold her in our hearts and extend our deepest condolences to her husband, Beau, and her children, Matthew and Luke. ”
O’Hara’s manager announced Friday that the “Home Alone” star died at his home in Los Angeles after a brief illness. She was 71 years old.
O’Hara’s prolific comedy career began on the Canadian sketch comedy show Second City Television and ended with late-career revivals such as Beetlejuice, Schitt’s Creek, and The Studio. Tributes and tributes poured in from the Hollywood community after her death.
“I really don’t know what to say… When I first met O’Hara, I told her I thought she was the funniest person I’d ever seen on screen. ‘Home Alone’ was the movie that made me want to make movies,” Rogen, co-creator and star of ‘The Studio,’ wrote on Instagram. “It was an absolute honor to work with her. She was hysterical, kind, intuitive, and generous… She made me want to create a show worthy of her presence. This is truly shocking. We are all lucky to live in a world with her in it.”
