What you need to know
Scott Hoying and Mark Hoying share some exciting news.
On Thursday, January 29, the couple announced the gender of their baby with a shocking musical number featuring original lyrics from La La Land’s “Someone in the Crowd.”
The video, uploaded to TikTok and Instagram, begins with the couple lying in bed, with Mark holding up a newspaper that says, “Baby Hoying! Is it a boy? A girl? Expected arrival June 2026.”
After dating for six years, the couple tied the knot in July 2023 at The Ritz-Carlton Baccarat in Santa Barbara, California. The couple announced that they are expecting a baby in October 2025.

As the camera rolls on, the two begin singing to each other what their baby will be like.
Afterwards, the two begin brushing their teeth in the morning while Mark sings, “What would you do if you were interested in football?” Scott replies, “God, please don’t say that.”
“No matter what they’re into, we’ll love them just the same,” the couple sing in unison.
As they head downstairs to the kitchen, they continue to wonder what will happen to their baby.
“Just because a baby is a certain gender doesn’t mean they have certain interests,” Mark sings in another part of the song. “Is it like boys like shiny things and girls being able to play hockey? Well, that’s true. So I don’t think we expect anything from our babies before they’re born.”
After they come to an agreement, they open the front door, and as the pink light shines in, they sing, “Our baby is a girl,” and dance down the street in head-to-toe pink outfits.

Surrounded by dancers, they sing about what their baby looks like until the video cuts to the couple riding on a pink heart-shaped float.
“What if when our daughter grows up, what if she says to us,” Scott sings, to which Mark responds, “You don’t have to have the answers. Just make the most of each day.”
The video ends with the couple returning outside to celebrate their soon-to-be family of three.
