Variety reports that Amy Madigan is set to guest star in the Netflix series, which is an adaptation of S.A. Crosby’s novel All the Sinners Bleed.
Madigan will appear opposite previously announced series lead Dilys and series regulars John Douglas Thompson, Nicole Beharie, Daniel Ezra, Andrea Cortez, Murray Bartlett and Leila George. The recurring cast includes Giancarlo Esposito, David Lyons, Donald Elise Watkins, Mackenzie Astin, Jordan M. Cox, Karen Moss, Angus O’Brien, Cranston Johnson, Christopher Matthew Cooke, Christopher Thornton, and Bill Oberst Jr.
The official logline for the series reads, “Haunted by the untimely death of his godly mother, the first black sheriff (Dilys) of a small Bible Belt county must lead the hunt for a serial killer who has been preying on the black community for years in the name of God.”
Madigan will play Scarlett Cunningham.
News of the role comes shortly after it was announced that Madigan was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the hit horror film Weapons. This is Madigan’s second Oscar nomination in her career, having been nominated in the same category for Twice in a Lifetime in 1986. Madigan also won a Golden Globe Award and was nominated for an Emmy Award for the 1989 TV movie Roe vs. Wade. Other television credits include “Carnivale,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Penny Dreadful: City of Angels,” and film credits include “Field of Dreams,” “Uncle Buck,” “Gone Baby Gone” and “Pollock.”
