Hulu has set a premiere date for Testaments, the sequel to the streamer’s hit series The Handmaid’s Tale.
The first three episodes of “The Tales” will be released on April 8th, and new episodes will be released weekly thereafter. Like The Handmaid’s Tale, this new show is based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name.
The series’ official synopsis describes it as a “dramatic coming-of-age story set in Gilead.” The story is said to depict “loyal and pious teenager Agnes (Chase Infinity) and Daisy (Lucy Halliday), a newly arrived and convert from across the border of Gilead.” As they roam the gilded hallways of Auntie (Ann Dowd)’s elite prep school, a place where obedience is brutally inculcated with constant divine justification, their bond becomes the catalyst that upends their past, present, and future. ”
The cast of the series also includes Mabel Lee, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Zarin Darnell Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardeez, Shechina Mpumulwana, Bilva Pandya, and Kira Groyen.
Bruce Miller, who created the TV adaptation of The Handmaid’s Tale, is the creator, executive producer, and showrunner of The Testaments. Warren Littlefield, Elisabeth Moss, Steve Stark, Shana Stein, Maya Goldsmith, John Webber, Sheila Hockin, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, and Mike Barker serve as executive producers. Barker also directed the first three episodes. The studio is MGM Television.
Infinity was officially announced as the star of the Testaments series in February 2025. Since then, she has garnered significant praise and multiple award nominations for her role in the Oscar-nominated film One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.
