Gisele Bündchen’s family is worried about her decision to marry her baby daddy, jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquin Valente, because they fear she didn’t have a strong enough defensive strategy to compete.
A source told Page Six, “Her family warned her it was a mistake to marry a penniless man when he’s worth millions.”
While the run-of-the-mill Valente certainly doesn’t dabble in celebrity clientele and has his own academy with his brother in Miami, Florida, Bündchen has a different class of fame.
The Brazilian stunner has been voted the highest-paid supermodel multiple times and has amassed a fortune of $400 million, according to Celebritynetworth.com.
“Her family told her to live with him,” the source says. “But between Valente’s pressure and the fact that she’s a traditionalist, she felt that since they were going to have children, it might be better to get married.”
The couple gave birth to a son in February and married in a quiet ceremony in November, as Page Six exclusively reported.
A source said at the time that Valente was “emotional that he was finally able to get married after having a child.”
I’ve heard that couples have premarital sex, but it’s not the black belt level protection her family was hoping for.
“There is a prenup, but there are some loopholes that will require a financial settlement in the event of a divorce,” the source said.
In 2000, Bündchen signed a five-year, $25 million modeling contract with Victoria’s Secret, the largest modeling contract in history at the time. In addition to walking the runway, she has also campaigned for Chanel, Pantene, Under Armor, Apple, IWC, and more. She also owned a line of lingerie and sandals.
Bündchen has a large, close-knit family that includes her father, Vladir, and five sisters, Raquel, Graziella, Gabriella, Rafaela, and (her fraternal twin) Patricia.
Gisele said in May 2023, “Family is everything to me and my sisters are my best friends, even if we disagree sometimes.”
Bundchen’s mother, Vania, passed away in January 2024 at the age of 75 after a battle with cancer.
Bündchen divorced soccer player Tom Brady in 2022 and has two children, Benjamin, 16, and Vivian, 13.
Representatives for Bündchen and Valente did not respond to requests for comment.
