Angela Bassett will be honored for her career at the 8th Annual American Black Film Festival Honors in February.

The screen icon will receive the Excellence in Artistic Award for her acclaimed body of work, which includes films such as “Malcolm X,” “Waiting to Exhale,” “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” and “Black Panther.” Bassett played Tina Turner in What’s It Got to Do with Love and reprized her role as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, both of which were nominated for Academy Awards. She received an honorary Oscar award in 2024.

In television, Bassett starred in and executive produced ABC’s hit drama “9-1-1” and won his first Emmy Award for narrating the NatGeo documentary series “Queens.” Bassett also directs and produces through Bassett Vance Productions in association with 20th Television. Her honors include multiple Emmy Award nominations, a SAG Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and 16 NAACP Image Awards.

“Angela Bassett is the embodiment of excellence,” said Nice Cloud CEO Jeff Friday and President Nicole Friday. “Her body of work is both extraordinary and enduring, defined by fearless, powerful, and deeply human performances. She has set a standard of artistic integrity and cultural impact that continues to inspire generations, and we are honored to celebrate her remarkable career with the Excellence in the Arts Award.”

The 2026 ABFF Honors, presented by Nice Crowd, will be held on February 16th at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. Comedian and New York Times bestselling author Keb Onstage will officiate the non-televised ceremony.

As previously announced by Variety, Dwayne Johnson will receive the Entertainment Icon Award. Oscar winner and talk show host Jennifer Hudson will receive the Renaissance Award, director and executive producer Sally Richardson-Whitfield will receive the Evolution Award and “F1” star Damson Idris will receive the Horizon Award. ABFF Honors also pays a special tribute to the team behind director Ryan Coogler’s hit film “Sinners.”
