Keeley’s only officially confirmed relationship was with actress Maika Monroe. The two reportedly met in 2017 while working on the movie After Everything. The two confirmed their relationship in October of the same year, and made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Season 2 premiere of Stranger Things.

Although they kept much of their romance private, they made public appearances together at events such as Paris Fashion Week, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, and the Emmy Awards. From time to time, they were spotted hanging out and kissing in New York City. Monroe also photographed Keely for a 2020 feature in Interview magazine, photographing her posing outdoors and in a bathtub.

In a 2021 interview with GQ, Keeley talked about the dynamic of dating someone in the same industry. “During quarantine, it felt like we spent so much time together, which was rare,” he said. “I mean, that’s one of the downsides of dating someone else in the industry. There’s also an upside: someone who understands what’s going on with you in a pretty deep sense. But yeah, I think she’s similar to me. She doesn’t take it too seriously.”
It’s unclear when the pair broke up, but the last known red carpet appearance together was at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in March 2022. The following year, TMZ obtained photos of Monroe kissing Ariana Grande’s ex-husband Dalton Gomez in Los Angeles.

Keely apparently mentioned the breakup in an interview with Variety magazine in June 2024. He talked about the time he was filming FX’s Fargo in Calgary, Canada, after finishing filming Roman Dawn. “I had also gone through a big breakup right before I left Rome, so I was really lonely and focused on work,” he said. “My social life pretty much revolved around the show, and my work life pretty much revolved around the show. We weren’t really going to quit our jobs because of COVID-19.”

After breaking up with Monroe, Keeley became romantically involved with actress Chase Suey Wonders. The speculation began in October 2023 when the two were spotted walking arm in arm in New York. The two were photographed together again in the city in February 2024.
