The second teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has been released, and this time it focuses on Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth.
The new teaser comes a week after Chris Evans’ Captain America was featured in the first Doomsday trailer, which was shown at a preview screening of Avatar: Fire and Ashes. That first teaser revealed Cap’s return to “Doomsday” and, surprisingly, that he has a child. Similarly, the Thor teaser revolves around him praying for the safety of his adopted daughter Love (who appears in 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder) as he once again answers the call to battle.
The teaser begins in a sunny, peaceful forest, similar to the idyllic farmhouse from the Captain America teaser. As Thor presumably prepares to join the Avengers and fight Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., in “Doomsday,” he prays to his late father, the Norse god Odin, for the strength to protect his newborn daughter. In the teaser, you can see a glimpse of Love, who has grown a little since “Love & Thunder”. Thor, dressed in casual clothes, kisses her forehead as she lies on the bed, and his serious narration continues.
Love (played by Hemsworth’s daughter India) is actually the child of the villain Go the God Butcher (Christian Bale). In “Love and Thunder,” Go seeks revenge against all gods after his prayers to save his deceased daughter go unanswered. However, in the end, Goh gives up on his quest for revenge and manages to revive Love before dying. In his final moments, Go makes Thor promise to raise Love like his own daughter. Love then joins Thor in his next adventure, wielding the Stormbreaker hammer.
It was previously announced earlier this year that Hemsworth would star in Avengers: Doomsday, along with a number of other Marvel actors. He will face Doctor Doom with help from Evans, Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Simu Liu. In addition to the Avengers, “Doomsday” will also bring together the cast of “Fantastic Four” including Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, as well as “Thunderbolts” cast members Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, and Louis Pullman. The ultimate team-up movie from Fox’s X-Men universe also stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, James Marsden, Channing Tatum and Rebecca Romijn.
