“The Mighty Ducks” star Shaun Weiss posted on social media Monday that he is offering help to former child actor Tyler Chase, who appeared on the Nickelodeon series “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.” Chase recently went viral after posting a video on social media showing himself homeless and living on the streets of Riverside, California.
“I’ve gotten so many messages about[Tyler Chase],” Weiss said in a video she shared on her Instagram. “I reached out to some friends and we have a detox bed set up and a place for him to receive long-term treatment.”
Weiss added, “The only thing left to do is find him. I’m not in Los Angeles, or I’ll go find him myself.” He said if anyone could “meet in person” with Chase, “please DM me in time for the holidays.”
Chase played Martin Kwelly, a talkative and intelligent middle school student, on “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide” throughout three seasons of the show. Other credits include an appearance on “Everybody Hates Chris” and a role in the 2007 indie film “Good Time Max,” starring James Franco.
In Chase’s viral video, the former child actor clarified that he had been on Nickelodeon when the person recording him asked if he had been on Disney Channel. When I asked him what the show was called, he said, “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.”
Weiss is best known for playing goaltender Greg Goldberg in the 1992 film The Mighty Ducks and its sequels D2: The Mighty Ducks and D3: The Mighty Ducks. He has been open about his sobriety journey, revealing that he celebrated two years of sobriety in 2022 and writing in the caption, “Recovery is possible.”
