What you need to know
Amy Schumer continues to share how her health condition has affected her weight loss journey.
On Monday, Dec. 1, Schumer, 44, posted a reel to Instagram of her 6-year-old son Gene, whom she shares with husband Chris Fischer.
The video began with Schumer lounging in bed and continued with Jean sharing a peek inside her family’s home. While the video itself included a tour of various rooms, Schumer added text clarifying any “questions” she had about her weight loss journey.
She said she hasn’t had Botox or fillers and has lost 50 pounds, despite reports that she didn’t lose 30 pounds, writing, “It’s fun to not look hot and I think it’s temporary.” “I did it to survive.”
“I had a disease that left my face severely swollen and potentially fatal, but the internet found out and I was cured,” she apparently wrote in reference to her diagnosis of Cushing’s syndrome.
According to the Mayo Clinic, Cushing’s syndrome is a condition in which there is too much cortisol (the main stress hormone) in the body. In addition to a rounder face due to weight gain, other symptoms include weight gain in the arms and legs, high blood pressure, and increased stretch marks.

“I’m sorry for how losing weight made you feel,” Schumer continued. The Trainwreck star reiterated that she has had plastic surgery “over the years” and uses Munjaro. “I’m sorry to anyone I’ve disappointed.”
But now, she said, “the pain is gone” and she can “play tag” with Gene.
She also revealed in February 2024 that she was experiencing menopause at the same time as her endometriosis diagnosis. “If anyone has questions about how I look or feel or the perimenopausal process, I’m happy to share.”
According to the Cleveland Clinic, menopause is the transition period before menopause when estrogen levels begin to decline. It often causes menopausal-like symptoms such as hot flashes and irregular periods, which can last for years.
She ended her caption by addressing speculation about her and her husband’s marriage.
“Whatever happens to Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism,” she wrote, referring to her husband’s autism diagnosis. “You can get through it no matter how hard you try, he’s the best.”

PEOPLE reported in November that sources said Schumer and Fisher, 45, remain in a relationship despite speculation about their marriage.
“They are privately working through the normal issues that long-married couples have,” a source exclusively tells PEOPLE. “They’re both serious about this relationship.”
Schumer’s recent Instagram reel isn’t the first time she’s responded to speculation about her marriage to Fisher. In an Instagram Story on Nov. 6, she shared a photo of New York City and praised Hulu’s new series “All’s Fair.” “And Chris and I are still married,” she added in the caption.
She also responded to comments about her weight loss journey. In October, she shared via Instagram how she was “feeling strong” and being herself. “I enjoy the way I look, but at the end of the day it’s all about how I feel,” she wrote in a since-deleted Instagram carousel.
