T-Series and JP Films have released the first look of Diljit Dosanjh in Border 2 and revealed that the scope of the film will be expanded to include the Indian Air Force alongside the ground forces.
The poster shows Dosanjh depicting an Indian Air Force officer in the cockpit of a fighter jet. The image shows a significant expansion in the series’ narrative scope, indicating that dogfights will feature prominently alongside traditional battlefield sequences.
The original Border (1997), set in 1971, was headlined by Sunny Deol and pitted a small battalion of Indian soldiers against a large Pakistani attack force along the border area of Longewala. It is considered a landmark work in Indian war cinema.
Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh, who also directed Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari (2019), and is based on the 1897 Battle of Saragarhi, in which 21 Sikh troops fought against 10,000 Afghans.
The film reunites Dosanjh and Singh, with whom he has worked in several successful Punjabi films including ‘Jutt & Juliet’ (2012), ‘Jutt & Juliet 2’ (2013), ‘Disco Singh’ (2014), ‘Punjab 1984’ (2014) and ‘Super Singh’ (2017). The film stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh and Sonam Bajwa.
The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta under the banners of T-Series and JP Films. Produced by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with JP Dutta’s JP Films, the production team includes Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta.
Release is strategically scheduled for January 23, 2026, positioning the patriotic actioner during India’s Republic Day weekend, a key slot for films celebrating national themes.
