Elizabeth Olsen has opened up about a whirlwind upbringing in which twin sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were expected to boost their acting careers.
The “WandaVision” star described her childhood as “pretty chaotic” in an interview with The Times published Friday.
“I’m the youngest of four children, all born within five years of each other,” Elizabeth, 36, told the outlet, describing her childhood in Los Angeles, where she spent time on movie sets while Mary-Kate and Ashley, now 39, worked.
Elizabeth said she sometimes forgot the typical rituals of her childhood.
“So now I think the idea of a gentle bath and bedtime story routine is so gentle and lovely, because we didn’t have anything like that,” she explained.
“I love being the friend or aunt who comes over and helps with bedtime.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the “Avengers” actress said the “Full House” alums were “forced to watch my plays their entire lives and forced to go to my dance performances.”
When asked if her sisters gave her any advice, Olsen said, “No. We’re just a supportive family.”
She added: “After 15 years of working, it feels irrelevant to talk about it.”
The actress was born to Jarnette and David Olsen, Mary-Kate and Ashley, and their brother James Trent.
Jarnett and Davis have since divorced, and David has two more children with his wife, Mackenzie Olsen.
Elizabeth, who married Robbie Arnett in 2019, is the aunt of Ashley Olsen’s son Otto, who she secretly welcomed with her husband Louis Eisner in 2023.
In February 2024, she was spotted hanging out with designers from The Row for a rare sisters’ night out in New York City.
Previously, in 2021, Elizabeth proudly wore an elegant white dress designed by her sisters to the Emmy Awards.
Despite her unusual upbringing, Elizabeth told March that she enjoyed being part of a large and busy family.
“It was so much fun, especially when she was a baby,” she said during an appearance on “Today with Jenna & Friends.”
“It was really fun.”
