Turkey, greens, and insects!
When the Thanksgiving bell rings, everyone is eager to unite over a delicious meal. But perhaps no one does it with more glorious spirit than the Queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey.
The 56-year-old “Honey” singer shared a video on Instagram of herself preparing a batch of “annual anointed vegetables” for Turkey Day.
Five-time Grammy winner Mimi was at her best when she was photographed working without skimping on glamor. Wearing simple black leggings and a white knit sweater by Dior, the diva looked comfortable in the kitchen and clearly knew each element of the recipe.
Although it wasn’t the focus of the video, even the less observant Lambs could see Carey’s precious Van Cleef & Arpels custom butterfly ring (a gift from the brand) shining amidst the abundance of produce and spices.
While the diamond sparkler was placed on a pair of black latex gloves, Carey began adding chicken stock, parsley and garlic to a large batch of steaming vegetables.
In between bursts of singing, she said: “Yes, I’m wearing gloves, okay? That’s what I like.”
But it was the unusual combination of personal protective equipment and flashiness that sent fans rushing to comment.
“The ring on the glove. Hahaha, I love it!” one wrote, while others called the styling move “legendary” and “iconic.”
On a 2020 episode of supermodel Naomi Campbell’s podcast No Filter with Naomi, Carey talked about her dazzling diamond ring, admitting, “I’ll never take it off,” one of several jewels in her butterfly-themed collection.
She wore it throughout her pregnancy with Monroe and Moroccan Cannon, even though her hands were swollen.
Carey has worn the treasured item for at least 15 years, as her twins with ex-husband Nick Cannon were born in April 2011.
Carey has had an affinity for the glow of butterflies since the ’90s, especially leading up to the release of her 1997 album “Butterfly.” Since then, this motif has become an integral part of her brand and an unspoken symbol shared by her fans.
Similar designs, such as Van Cleef & Arpels’ Flying Butterfly ring, retail for $41,700. Each unique bauble is made of white gold and contains over 3 carats of diamonds in a variety of shapes.
Carey was recently spotted wearing a butterfly ring during her 2025 VMA performance where she won the Video Vanguard Award.
In the career-spanning medley, Carey wore $10 million worth of diamonds, including a 204.38-carat Rosé Eternelle diamond necklace, a 72.15-carat cuff by Eso Maria, a 37.62-carat design by Hamilton Jewelers, and a 3.25-carat ring by Revuma.
The holiday countdown has officially begun, and the “All I Want for Christmas is You” singer is gearing up for a busy season.
We hope everyone unwraps something similarly sparkly, or at least a practical pair of gloves, this year.
