Demi Engeman claims the explosive Season 1 finale of ‘The Mormon Wife’ was completely staged.
The finale ended with a cliffhanger about Taylor Frankie Paul’s ex-girlfriend Dakota Mortensen possibly cheating on her with a woman named Jenna, but several cast members on the show claimed that Engeman suggested to the producers that the finale should end with fans assuming she was the other woman.
“It’s awkward that I now have to clarify this and reveal how this show is produced,” Engeman, 30, explained about the drama on Instagram Reels on Thursday.
“After filming Season 1, the producers asked for an idea for a ‘big cliffhanger’ because the show was ‘boring,'” she explained in her defense.
She claimed that all of the women “boiled a lot of ideas,” and that her idea was for Dakota to “meet” her and Dakota to “get some advice about him and Taylor,” but someone “came on video of[the two]talking in the car,” making her think there was “something going on” between them.
Although her idea never materialized on the show, her plan included speculation that her affair with Mortensen would end when Season 2 aired, and everyone would know that Mortensen was just there for advice.
“In reality, it wasn’t that serious or serious. This is a perfect example of the ‘pile-on’ tactics these women use when someone is already in the public eye,” Engeman claimed.
She says the production encouraged the entire cast to come up with ideas for the finale, and all of them did, but she was the only one to receive backlash for it.
“They all gave me the idea of a cliffhanger, but the way this story was told was as if I was just being amused and suddenly wanted to ‘stage the incident.’ No, I have no idea what happened, and unlike other 👀s, I’m not going to stage anything myself,” she concluded.
The producers of “Secrets of Mormon Wives” could not be reached for comment to Page Six.
The influencer, who claimed the production encouraged all the women to fabricate the plot, recently came under fire for trying to push another extramarital affair storyline, this time regarding co-stars Jessie and Jordan Gatikaula’s marriage.
During the Season 2 finale, “Vanderpump Villa” star Marciano Brunette revealed his affair with Jesse. She came clean in season 3, but claimed they never had sex and it was primarily an emotional affair.
The brunette lied about becoming intimate with the 33-year-old, but in a shocking twist, she revealed the affair to production and claimed it was Engeman who convinced her to lie about the relationship.
According to the brunette, he confided in Engeman about his relationship with Jesse and made sure they never became intimate. She had “promised” him not to bring it into production, but she ended up breaking that promise and told them they had sex to get more pay.
“It didn’t work out for her because instead of paying her, they just called me and brought her in. So that backfired on her again,” he told US Sunday Friday.
Brunette said she kept telling the lie because she was “hugely influenced” by Engeman, but ultimately accepted it because “I cared a lot about Jesse and I knew it would hurt her and I didn’t want that to happen to her.”
Jesse and Engeman’s nasty feud continued Tuesday after Engeman hinted in an Instagram reel Sunday that the Hulu show was carefully scripted.
Jesse responded, “Honey, just because you wrote your own script doesn’t mean our show is scripted. This behavior, level of paranoia, and downward spiral should be studied.”
Jessi took things a step further by stating on her Instagram Story, “Grandpa Brett likes to drink piss like dirty soda,” on Instagram Stories about the purported meaning behind Engeman’s sexual encounter with husband Brett Engeman, “Fruity Pebbles.”
Demi issued a statement on her claims via her Instagram Stories.
“The one time my husband and I did it behind closed doors was a consensual and private experience in our marriage,” Demi wrote. “I will not allow the private activities between me and my husband to get in the way of serious activities to which I do not consent.”
“I privately shared this information with Jesse almost two years ago. It is very telling that she chose to break the storyline and bring it up now only after her infidelity came to light. This is nothing but a desperate attempt to divert attention from her own actions.”
