A week after signing a landmark four-year, $1 billion-plus deal to secure the rights to broadcast Champions League matches in the United Kingdom, Paramount+ has doubled down on its commitment to British soccer.
The streamer has a partnership with Arsenal, who currently lead the English Premier League, which will bring the team’s “players, club legends and supporters together to celebrate some of Paramount+’s iconic series.”
Among the series mentioned were ‘Landman’ and ‘Mobland’, and Paramount said Arsenal would collaborate on a social media campaign and that Paramount+ branding would be featured in the stadium, on the big screen, in the matchday program and in other experiences and activations.
As part of the announcement, Paramount+ released a promotional video titled “For the Love of the Team” narrated by Arsenal icon Thierry Henry, who currently works as a pundit for CBS Sports.
“We are thrilled to be able to bring together two iconic global brands, Paramount+ and Arsenal, with our passionate, living, breathing supporters,” said Marco Nobili, Executive Vice President and International General Manager, Paramount+. “With hit series like SpongeBob SquarePants, South Park, Landman and Yellowstone, we create experiences that celebrate teamwork, elevate the game and bring supporters together. This partnership will bring drama, comedy and unforgettable moments from both worlds to life, on and off the pitch.”
The move follows Paramount’s dramatic entry into English football by winning an auction to broadcast most Champions League matches from 2027 to 2031. Paramount reportedly beat out current rights holder TNT, significantly more than the $1.3 billion TNT paid.
