Girls just want to have fun – and hot pink hair.

Doja Cat brought 1980s surplus to the Tour Ma Vi venue in Melbourne, Australia, on Tuesday, channeling pop music icon Cyndi Lauper with a pointy fuchsia wig and theatrical neon makeup.

The 30-year-old rapper performed at Rod Laver Arena wearing a leopard print lamé bodysuit with yellow puff sleeves by designer Louis Verdado, accessorized with statement jewelry by House of Emanuele and fingerless lace gloves.

Her dramatic feathered pink wig, styled by hairstylist Jared Henderson, better known as JStay Ready, recalled Lauper’s signature jagged cut and neon dye job. Makeup artist Ivan Nunez paired slashes of dark blue and electric yellow eyeshadow to match the vibrant look.

The ensemble was styled by Doja’s creative director, Brett Alan Nelson. He helped bring her totally 80s-inspired “Vie” days back to life.

The aesthetic is heavily influenced by icons like Lauper, Madonna, Prince, and Janet Jackson, all of whom Doja cites as influences on her fifth studio album.

Lauper herself would probably approve of Doja’s theatrical approach. The Girls Just Want to Have Fun legend has been vocal about her appreciation for today’s pop stars who prioritize visual performance art, most recently praising the quality of Chapel Lawn after Roane’s VMA performance in September.

“Just the hair, come on!” Lauper told Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live.” “And the fact that it’s performance art. And it’s visual, very visual. You know I love those visual things.”

Roan later paid tribute to Lauper at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in November, wearing a custom newspaper skirt inspired by the icon’s “True Colors” music video. Doja Cat also performed at the same event, and Doja Cat covered OutKast’s “Ms. Jackson.”

Doja has gone all-in on the ’80s aesthetic throughout her Tour Ma Vi, which kicks off on November 18 in Auckland, New Zealand and runs through December 2026, concluding in New York City.

Her dedication to channeling music icons extends beyond Lauper. Last month, Doja performed at Vogue World: Hollywood in a chainmail dress inspired by Tina Turner’s Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome look.

In September, she kicked off the Vee era at the VMAs by wearing a pastel Balmain minidress with butter yellow platform heels and a lipstick-shaped Judith Leiber clutch.

The album was released on September 26th and debuted at number 4 on the Billboard 200 in its first week.
